It is the whole of the damages that may occur after many factors such as biomechanical disorder, trauma, muscle imbalance, wrong and sudden movement, long-term repetitive loading, traffic accident.
It can occur suddenly, or it can occur after repeated loads.

Every pain in the lumbar region should not be considered as a herniated disc.

** 80% OF THE WORLD’S POPULATION HAS LACK PAIN AT ANY TIME OF LIFE
IT MUST LIVE. (Diagnosis and treatment of low back pain, Emel ÖZCAN,2002)

There are many mechanisms responsible for low back pain:

• Disc İnjury,
• Disc Degeneration,
• Muscle Disorders,
• Trigger Points,
• Sacroiliac Joint Disorders
• Facet joint problems, slipped disc,
• Psychogenic factors. These are some of the factors.

We should always think of the body as an intertwined and interconnected chain.

For this reason, the problem in the waist region or any other part of the body affects other parts as well.

For example: if the individual with a mild herniated disc walks by distorting her body and bending her back and continues this for a long time, this will increase the load on other joints in the body.
As a result, pain will occur in other parts of the body, especially in the sacrailiac joint and hip region.

In lumbar hernia problems, pain radiating to the waist and legs usually occurs in the forward bending position and in advanced hernia problems, in the position of raising the straight leg on the back.

Conversely, in sacroiliac joint problems or facet joint problems, pain is felt in the lumbar region when bending back.

Especially after the herniated disc problem, the body hardens by increasing the tone of the muscles to prevent further injury to that area and to fix that area. This is a protection mechanism.

After the diagnosis is made by a specialist doctor, the evaluation of the physiotherapist and the exercise program she organizes should be applied.
